Research at La Copita
As a working ranch at the confluence of South Texas ecosystems, La Copita supports a diversity of research opportunities spanning ecosystem health, wildlife management, native plant restoration, invasive species control and so much more.
Current research projects include:
- Investigating conservation grazing as a tool in native grassland restoration.
- Ecologic and economic responses to management application at the ranch scale.
- Abundance estimates for white-tailed deer and northern bobwhite quail using autonomous recording units.
- Development and implementation of long-term wildlife monitoring programs for mammals, birds, herpetofauna and pollinators.
- Development of a collard peccary species distribution model.
