Center for Grazinglands and Ranch Management

The Center for Grazinglands and Ranch Management (CGRM) is a Texas A&M University system-wide effort dedicated to safeguarding the ecologic and economic resiliency of grazingland resources and ranching operations. CGRM serves as a facilitating agent for producer-directed and focused, applied grazingland and ranch management research, direct producer outreach and policy engagement.

Center for Natural Resource Information Technology (CNRIT)

Established in 1991, The Texas A&M AgriLife Center for Natural Resource Information Technology, CNRIT, is a research and development institution that brings together big data and computational technology to develop decision support systems that bolster the well-being of landowners, Texans, and the natural resources that must support future generations. These digital decision support systems form a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to planning, monitoring and assessing emerging land management paradigms, new technologies and policy. This Center is defined by two main efforts—the Rangeland Decision-Support Laboratory and the Grazingland Animal Nutrition Laboratory.  

Rangeland Decision-Support Laboratory (RSDL)

RDSL maintains a suite of decision-support tools that utilize various technologies including remote sensing, computer simulation and GIS to inform land conservation and stewardship. These tools support the Grazing land Animal Nutrition Lab nutritional decision support programs.

Grazingland Animal Nutrition Laboratory (GAN Lab)

Established in 1987, the GAN Lab has long provided diagnostic diet analyses for livestock producers and land managers, to support strategic livestock nutrition management and provide a basis for sustainable grazing practices. The Rangeland Decision-Support Laboratory provides decision-support tools that inform the GAN Lab’s programs.

Texas AgriLife Extension Service Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory provides water quality testing and fish parasite and disease diagnostics for aquaculture producers and private pond and lake owners. The laboratory’s primary mission is to provide research-based analysis and diagnostics and non-biased recommendations for owners of private waters and the stakeholders of Texas. The lab specializes in water chemistry to support fisheries and aquaculture, water clearing treatments, parasitology and bacterial histopathology.
