Professional Summary
Brittany Chesser joined the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management in May 2019. Her primary responsibilities include developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive statewide Extension education program focused on the identification and management of aquatic vegetation in privately owned freshwater systems throughout Texas. Chesser is a co-developer of the AquaExtension program, which provides webinars and in-person workshops on a variety of topics related to aquatic vegetation, pond management and water quality. She also serves as the lead diagnostic scientist for the Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory, where she conducts routine water quality analyses and other diagnostic services, prepares client reports, and provides management recommendations and amendment strategies for private water bodies. Through her work with the Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory, the program has generated an estimated annual economic impact exceeding $20 million. In 2022, Chesser received the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Superior Service Award in recognition of her contributions to Extension programming and outreach. She also serves on several national and regional professional boards related to aquatic resource management.
