Professional Summary

Bob McCan of Victoria, Texas, oversees cattle operations in Victoria, Refugio and Bee Counties as ranch manager for his family’s operation, McFaddin Enterprises. The ranches are stocked with Victoria cattle, a commercial crossing of three-fourths Hereford and one-quarter Brahman with a uniform Hereford color. In 2010, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

McCan has a long-standing history of leadership and service. He became a director of Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association in 1990 and was president of TSCRA from 2003-2005. In 2006, Governor Rick Perry appointed him to the Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation Council. McCan is past president to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, was recently elected president of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef and is a council member of the King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management. In addition to his ties to the cattle and ranching industry, McCan’s passion for land management and conservation has placed him in positions of leadership for Victoria Soil and Water Conservation district, Texas Agricultural Land Trust, Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Texas Coalitions, the National GLCI Steering Committee and the state Fire Ant Research and Management Account Advisory Committee. McCan is married to the former Julie Ann Hartman and they have 2 children—Robert August McCan and Mary Isabel McCan.
