RWFM Stewards Program
The Department of Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management’s Stewards Program is a student-led initiative that promotes and shapes the public image of the department. Our Stewards are distinguished student leaders within the department who take on the important responsibility of conducting in-person presentations and tours for prospective students and their family members.
Additionally, Stewards serve as the department’s ambassadors, representing RWFM at various key events throughout the year. The program is designed to equip Stewards with extensive training and leadership skills, fostering confidence and knowledge to effectively convey the compelling story of RWFM to potential future students.

Who is eligible to apply?
Both undergraduate and graduate students within the department are eligible to apply. Ideally, undergraduate applicants hold at least a sophomore classification.
What is the application process?
- Students submit a HOST application. This includes uploading your resume at the end of the application.
- Select applicants will move to the next round to conduct a formal interview.
- Final selections are made, and HOSTs undergo onboarding and training.
What are the benefits of being a HOST?
The program offers a range of benefits, including a custom departmental shirt and a travel scholarship to attend one to two key events annually, such as state meetings of the American Fisheries Society, The Wildlife Society and Society for Range Management.
What are the expectations of a HOST?
RWFM HOSTs will be active on- and off-campus. We anticipate the required commitment from students will not exceed an average of three to five hours per week; but, there may be instances, such as out-of-town events, that will require more time. Students are expected to attend monthly meetings and events throughout the year. Specific duties include the following three broad categories: Conduct department tours, attend recruiting events and maintain RWFM’s recruiting room.
