Professional Summary

Megan Clayton, Ph.D. is a Professor and Extension Range Specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management. Her responsibilities as a Rangeland Specialist have her based at the Uvalde Research and Extension Center where she started in 2022 after 12 years at the Corpus Christi Research and Extension Center. She provides support and collaboration between Extension agents, specialists, industry, land managers, and organizations through teaching, training, and providing technical expertise on the management of rangeland resources. Clayton’s current interests include blending wildlife habitat and livestock range management, small acreage management, UAV (drone) research, brush management, and youth natural resources education. Her main area of responsibility includes the Southwest Texas and Hill Country areas. Clayton serves as a coordinator of Plant Party, a quarterly webinar series intended for advanced plant training for natural resource professionals, volunteers, and land managers in Texas and beyond. Plant Party is a collaboration between Texas A&M Extension Service, USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Her second nation-wide program is Generation Next: Our Turn to Ranch, a 12-week, instructor-led, online business school targeting new landowners, those who will/have inherited land, or landowners wishing to add a new operation to their ranch or farm.
