Professional Summary
Robert D. ‘Bob’ Lusk is a nationally known fisheries biologist and editor of Pond Boss magazine. He travels the nation helping landowners design, oversee construction, fish stocking, and management of private lakes and ponds.
Lusk’s nationwide experience in pond management is extensive, ranging from small farm ponds to larger private lakes. His experience as a biologist has led to a deeper understanding of water chemistry, the biology of aquatic plants, many species of fish and their population dynamics, as well as how the different biological components come together as a community—not only under water but above the shoreline as well.
Lusk played a key role developing the pond management industry and serves as the key speaker for 15 to 20 grassroots pond management seminars annually. Pond Boss has held eight major landowner conferences with speakers, vendors and attendees from around the world, helping unify the industry.
He also owns, edits and writes for the magazine, Pond Boss, which is in its 30th year of publication. Pond Boss maintains subscribers in 45 states and six countries. The magazine, sold through Bass Pro Shops, also retains a substantial online presence and hosts the largest pond management discussion forum on the internet.
Lusk’s awards are extensive. He is the first private-sector biologist inducted into the American Fisheries Society Fish Management Section Hall of Excellence. He holds many achievement awards for his work as a writer, and has authored three books on pond management, with another ready for print. He is a past president of the Texas Outdoor Writers Association and was awarded their highest honor, the prestigious L.A. Wilke Award. Bob also sits on the external advisory committee for the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management Department and serves on the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame selection committee.
